2010 David Terry Award
In the spring of 1999, the David Terry Award was established by the ACCA. Named for a remarkable young man who tragically lost his life on January 6th, 1999, this award is considered the highest honor given by the Association of Christian College Athletics.
David Terry was a gifted athlete who played at Southwestern Christian University. As the starting point guard from 1994 to 1997 he helped lead the men’s basketball team to their first national championship during his senior season. David received numerous conference and region awards and capped off his senior year by being named to the ACCA All-American team.
David Terry was committed to Christian service. A pastoral ministry major, David served the Lord in various ministry opportunities, including children’s pastor, teacher, and mentor. He excelled academically, was active in his community, and was committed to his local church. A leader both on and off the court, David was a friend to all who knew him.
It is with great honor that the ACCA presents the female recipient of the David Terry Award to Jessica Davis of Rhema Bible College. Jessica is a 5’7 guard out of Hillsdale, Michigan. Jessica has been the captain of the Rhema team for the last two years, and in addition she is the team’s top defensive stopper, hustle leader, and the inspiration of the team. In addition to that her character is as good as it gets. She is faithful, dependable, and the hardest worker on the team. Jessica has dedicated her entire life to serving the Lord through serving people. She has volunteered at the prayer and healing center answering phone calls, she has volunteered coaching children’s basketball camps during the summer, and she led the Children’s Church gym night every Wednesday throughout the year. She also volunteers on the street evangelism outreach team that goes out and ministers the gospel in the inner city. Jessica is a team captain and a crowd favorite because of here “never say die attitude” along with her godly character and integrity. The ACCA is proud to present Jessica Davis with the 2010 David Terry Award.
